Part Four
The Forest
Hugo and Lanzman worked on the cruiser, installing the new stabilizers. Although the stabilizers Hugo had were not of the same origin as the cruisers original, they managed to make them fit by using a little elbow grease, and a big hammer.
Animebabe watched the two work.
"How did you come across these stabilizers, Hugo?" she asked, "Did Dr. Shrinker invent them?"
Hugo looked up at her, of course, being a small person, he couldn't help looking up at anybody, "No, a few years back, a flying saucer that was lost in time crash landed nearby. There were these two androids, a girl, a boy, and some creature, looked like a dog but it had a horse head. Well, Electra Woman declared them a menace. They were almost toast, but some of us managed to help them escape. In return, Dr. Shrinker got a couple of their spare parts for his own use, including these stabilizers. Nice androids, too. Even if one of them had a real southern voice. He sang pretty good, though."
Lanzman checked out the engines of the cruiser, making sure that nothing else was wrong.
"Well, A-babe," he said "looks like all we have to do is wait for the batteries to charge up. Then we can, hopefully, get out of here."
"After we keep our promise, Lanz." Animebabe replied
Empress of Evil smiled, "You mean you're not going to leave us right away?"
"Nope, we made you a promise and we're sticking by that promise."
The Jester, who was listening to his radio, ran up, "Hey, are you able to pick up the local television stations?"
Lanzman looked at him, "Yea, why? What's up?"
"Bad news. Really, bad news."
Metro City News 58 newsroom
Electra Woman sat behind the desk, addressing the citizens of Metro City. Dyna Girl stood behind the cameraman while she spoke. For years, the citizens had been living in fear, ever since the Electrifying Duo became the vigilantes that they now were. For years, they had prayed for a miracle to save them. Now, Electra Woman was making sure that all citizens knew who was in charge.
"Citizens of Metro City," Electra Woman said, "for years, you have been hiding our enemies from us. You think that they have changed. That they are going to save you from our so called tyranny. But you are wrong in thinking that. Our brand of justice is the only thing that can save you from yourselves. Our enemies are only out to help themselves, they do not care about you. And to prove to you who is more superior, at midnight, in Metro City Park, we are going to execute some of those who dare to interfere with us. Old enemies like The Sorcerer, The Pharaoh, and Cleopatra. And new enemies calling themselves, SpydieGirl, BatQueen, SideMan, and one who has taken the name of GlitterRock. We will not allow these people to destroy what Dyna Girl and I have worked on for years.
The execution will be televised on all channels in Metro City, watch it at home. Anyone coming to the park to watch will be shot instantly. There is a curfew, you know. Thank you and have a pleasant evening."
The camera's turned off, the cameraman quickly left the room, so as to not piss off Electra Woman and Dyna Girl. Dyna Girl walked up to Electra Woman.
"So, you think the others will show up and try and stop us?" Dyna Girl asked
"I hope so, I would like to get them all out of the way in one blow. Are the prisoners giving Frank any problems?"
"So far, no. The Electra Shackles are keeping them in their place."
"Good. Let's get ready for the execution. I really love doing that."
"Oh, and I love watching them squirm."
The streets of Metro City
The villain GlitterRock watched Electra Woman's speech the television sets sitting in Maury's Television Store. He quickly headed towards Metro City Park before he was caught for breaking curfew.
Damn you, Electra Chick, he thought, you're not going to execute anyone.
He stopped and gave it some more thought. Perhaps all these years without a man in her life was what made her this way. He then shrugged, he could care less. Something about a woman in her fifties wearing tights, with her love handles showing, doesn't really turn him on.
He walked into Al's Hot Wings Diner, to get some food. He wasn't going into battle on an empty stomach.
Outside Metro City Limits
Animebabe led the rest back to the sewer entrance they climbed out of. She turned around and knelt in front of Hugo. He nodded, knowing what she was going to ask.
"There's a payphone not far from here," he said "it's outside of the city limits so I won't be captured by the Electra Drones. I'll call for help. I know the Super Hero Hotline number, seen the ads all the time on tv. Their infomercials are stupid, though."
Animebabe kissed him on the cheek, "Thanks, Hugo."
Hugo reached into his pocket and pulled out a device that looked like a remote control of sorts.
"It's a scrambler device," he explained "Hopefully, it'll prove effective against the Electra Drones. I can't guarantee it, though."
"Hey," Lanzman said, "it's worth a shot. I mean, what do we have to lose? Our lives, right?"
The Jester looked at him with a puzzled look, "That doesn't bother you? Losing your life?"
"On our Earth, a race of dimensional beings called The Kortac plan on invading. Us Cappers are fighting them, trying to prevent them from carrying out their plan. Our lives are in danger everyday we go up against them....mind you, we've only been fighting them for about seven months."
Animebabe gestured towards the sewer entrance, "Shall we?"
Lanzman entered the sewer and was heard muttering, "Cowabunga"
Hugo watched them disappear into the darkness of the sewer and then headed off towards the phone.
Metro City Park, midnight
The Capper Glitterrock looked around. They were surrounded by Electra Drones. Electra Woman and Dyna Girl stood in front of them. Electra Woman was wearing some strange device on her back which had wires running up her arms, up to her fingers. Frank stood close by the two.
SideMan looked at the others, "Well, unless there's a miracle coming. We may be done for."
SpydieGirl stared at SideMan, "Golly, that's such a negative thing to say. Can't you have a positive outlook?"
"Spydie, leave him alone," BatQueen said, "Besides, I think something's going to happen. Surely, Animebabe saw Electra Woman's speech."
"Yes, and I bet that that's what Electra Woman is hoping." Sorcerer pointed out.
GlitterRock watched Electra Woman and then turned to the Sorcerer,"Have you figured out a way to get out of these shackles?"
"It took me some doing, but I have figured the trick to getting out of them."
"Wouldn't do any good." Pharaoh said, "After all, we're going to be executed. If we did get out of these shackles, we'd still have to contend with those two AND the Electra Drones."
GlitterRock continued, "Don't ask me why, but I think that we might get a diversion to escape from these shackles and go down fighting, if we have to."
"Really?" Cleopatra asked, "Well, I have to ask why you think so."
"I saw Lanzman lift up the manhole cover across the street and look this way. Any other questions?"
"Boss," SideMan asked, "before you die, can you tell me the secret recipe to your hot wings?"
"SideMan, if you aren't killed by Electra Woman, I'm gonna kill ya."
The conversation was interrupted by Dyna Girl, behind her of the Electra Drones were holding cameras.
"Enemies of Metro City. You have been convicted of conspiring to overthrow the protectors of this city, that being Electra Woman and myself, Dyna Girl. Before you are executed, you can ask only one request. So ask."
"I want to know how come you don't say 'Holy Electrodes' or 'That's DynaRiffic'? GlitterRock asked.
"Oh please," Dyna Girl replied, "That is so immature."
SpydieGirl laughed, "Oh, and running around in tights isn't. I mean, have you seen your butt? Lay off the twinkies, lady."
"Enough," yelled Electra Woman, "the execution begins now. Starting with the one calling himself, GlitterRock."
The Cappers and the villains could see the electrical currents run from the device, down the wires on her arms. She turned slowly to GlitterRock arms extended.
Just then, from out of the bushes, the Villain GlitterRock ran towards her. He had his guitar up, ready to swing at her. Electra Woman turned towards him and blasted him with a bolt of electricity. The shock sent him flying. He hit a nearby tree and fell to the ground. Electra Woman turned back to the others, who, during that distraction, were now free of the shackles. The Capper GlitterRock had a look on his face that sent shivers down Dyna Girls spine.
"You old HAG." Glitter said, "You're gonna pay for that."
Frank jumped in front of Electra Woman, ready to protect her.
"Electra Drones" he ordered, "Attack."
The Electra Drones slowly flew up, then dropped to the ground with a loud crash. Electra Woman, Dyna Girl, and Frank looked around then say Animebabe, Lanzman, The Jester, and Empress of Evil standing behind them.
"Well, I'll be damned." Animebabe said "It worked"
Frank lunged towards Animebabe. Lanzman ran in front and swung at Frank. Lanzman's hand hit Frank square in the jaw, but it felt like he hit metal.
"owowowowowow." Lanzman said jumping around "He ain't human, whatever he is."
Animebabe fired her laser rifle at Frank. The blast hit Frank in the chest. Frank exploded, being nothing but a robot.
"Ah," BatQueen said, "the unmarked grave at the house was where the real Frank is buried."
Electra Woman screamed, seeing as how she couldn't think of anything to say, she screamed. She looked at Animebabe.
"Who....are......you?" she asked
"We're the good guys." Animebabe said
Electra Woman punched a few buttons on her device, turning up the power to full capacity, "You are dead, that is what you are."
"Hey," The Capper GlitterRock yelled. He had run down to the middle of the street during all the hub bub. "Aren't you supposed to execute me first?"
Electra Woman slowly walked down towards GlitterRock. Animebabe started to pursue, but SideMan put his hand on her shoulder and shook his head.
"I have no idea where you came from," Electra Woman said, the device of hers humming louder "But you are all going to the Metro City Cemetery."
GlitterRock merely shook his head, "Yea, ok, right, whatever. You know the only bad thing about carrying a device around that is powered by electricity."
Electra Woman stopped walking, right where Glitter had wanted her to stop.
"What is the only bad thing about carrying a device that is powered by electricity?" she asked, thinking it was a joke.
Glitter smiled, "Water."
SpydieGirl fired her laser, which hit the side of a nearby fire hydrant. Water shot out and hit Electra Woman. The device short circuited, causing great pain to Electra Woman. Dyna Girl, not being very bright, ran out and tried to save her friend, and wound up being shocked along with Electra Woman. Soon, they stumbled out of the waters way and fell. The grip that was placed on Metro City was now over.
A shiny dune buggy zoomed around the corner. It's only passenger was Hugo. He saw the damage and laughed.
"Hey, looks like Wonder Bug came for no reason." He said
Animebabe smiled, "He can keep an eye on those two. At least until we get them to prison."
She turned and saw the Capper GlitterRock kneeling down beside the Villain GlitterRock. Oh, boy. She thought. I think we're going to need a Kleenex.
The Villain GlitterRock looked up at the Capper GlitterRock, "So. you're a good guy, right?"
"Yea. I thought you had a cool name, that's why I took it. Never thought I'd be traveling to a parallel universe and meeting you. Maybe now that this is all over, we can..."
"No, dude, I'm afraid it's too late."
"What, no, you're a cool cat, I'm sure the doctors can fix whatever's broken."
"Hey, you're the cool cat. It wouldn't matter. I still got the cancer. It's been a bigger pain in my side than Electra Chick and Dyna Bimbo. But I had to fight one last fight. And at least I know that my name is in good hands, rock on, my Glitter Brethren."
And with those words, the villain GlitterRock closed his eyes and went to that GlitterDome in the sky.
Metro City Cemetery, two days later
The Cappers helped Wonder Bug and the other Good heroes repair the damage done by Electra Woman and Dyna Girl's reign of terror. Sorcerer was heading to Las Vegas to star in his own magic show. The Jester decided to run for senate. Pharaoh and Cleopatra were moving to Florida to be with their son, Ramses. Empress of Evil was starting a boarding school for girls....who wanted to be super villains (some people have hard times breaking habits). As for Hugo, he was heading to California for a while to visit his friend, Sigmond at his seaside home. The villain GlitterRock was given a hero's funeral, all his criminal activities in the past were wiped clean.
The Capper GlitterRock stood at the grave. The dimensional cruiser flew overhead and landed nearby. Animebabe got out and walked over to him. He smiled and put his arm around her shoulders.
"You know what sucks?" he asked, "The fact that I never got to know him really well before he died."
Animebabe nodded, "Yea, if this was a television show, or a comic book, or a story off the internet, I'd tell you to blame the writer."
"But this is real life. Nobody to blame but the creator of our existence."
Animebabe kissed him on the cheek, "Come on, GlitterRock. Let's go home."
GlitterRock turned and walked with her to the cruiser. He stopped and turned to have on last look at the tombstone. He was somewhat proud of the saying on the tombstone, which was his idea. And he was certain that his namesake would of approved of it. For on the tombstone, after the name of the villain GlitterRock, there were the words:
"THE MUSIC WILL LIVE FOREVER"
