Part Two
Dimension of Krilleletch, Deep Space
DanZero watched from the cockpit of his dimensional fighter as MSTieLyn took her turn through the obstacle course. The Cappers had been in training for two days, and were quickly learning everything they needed to know about their new "toys" (as YingYang was calling them). Dan smiled to himself when he thought of this morning when Captain Halrex admitted as to how impressed he was over the Cappers progress.
This was their final training mission. With robotic fighters firing on them. So far, each of the Cappers had passed this final test, and MSTieLyn was the last.
"Ok, Lyn." Dan said in his communicator, "You can do it."
MSTieLyn's voice came over the communicator, "Quit your yakking. I'm busy."
The robotic fighters closed in on her, programmed to fight as Kortac have fought. Two fighters flew in behind her, ready to fire.
"Oh, no, I know you're not going to shoot me from behind." she said, as she hit her front boosters, causing the fighter to go in reverse. She fired at both ships, destroying one and damaging the other, causing it to lose control of itself. She then fired another shot, finishing it off. "And now, I head to the finish line."
Several other robot fighters tried to stop her, but MSTieLyn took care of them with no problem before coming to the end of the course.
Captain Halrex's voice came over the communicator, "Very good, Illustrious Squadron. Now, return to the Victory 7. You have definitely earned some rest."
"Thank you, Captain Halrex." DanZero replied "We're on our way. Illustrious Squadron, let's head back."
"Right behind you, boss." Torgone replied as he flew in next to DanZero's fighter
"Wasn't too bad of a practice. Wonder how long we've got before we actually see some battle." CaveDweller said
CyberBeast chuckled, "You sure you want to rush on into some battle out in outer space?"
"Hey, I think we can handle them." Lyn replied
"I want an alien babe with a tongue down to her naval." YingYang quipped.
"Ying," Dan said, "will you shut the hell up."
On board the Victory 7, crew galley
The Cappers sat together at a table. Rather proud of themselves over passing the training.
"Of course," DanZero said, "this isn't anything like the real thing. So, we have to stay alert and"
CyberBeast interrupted, "Dan, be quiet. We know what we need to do. We need to be twice as careful as we usually are when we are dealing with the Kortac on the ground."
"That's right," YingYang said. "It's twice as dangerous.....I think I'd rather go back home."
One of the crew members of the Victory 7 walked over to the table. He was, according to Olox, a Grizzerian. He was humanoid looking, but was covered with fur, with claws and sharp teeth. He slammed his fist down on the table.
"So, you are the Earthers that are called The Cappers." he growled "I have heard all about you from those reports our honorable Captain Halrex has been receiving."
"Hey, thanks," DanZero said, extending his hand, "My name's DanZero. What's yours?"
The Grizzerian simply looked at the hand then snarled at DanZero, "I do not believe that you are as wonderful as the reports say you are. I think that you are just lucky. And that you are too primitive to even be sitting in our waste disposal area."
Torgone looked over at Cave Dweller, "Is he insulting us."
"As a matter of fact," The Grizzerian continued, "I think that our waste smells better than any of you."
"Yup." replied Cave Dweller, "He's insulting us."
DanZero held up his hands, avoiding a confrontation, "Listen, friend. We are just here for training, we don't want any trouble..."
"I am not your friend." The Grizzerian snapped, "and I am going to prove to this ship just how useless you Earthers are. I challenge you, DanZero, to hand to hand combat. The way a true warrior should fight. Refuse, run to the captain, and that will show just how cowardice you truly are."
Olox walked up behind the Grizzerian, "That will be enough, Lt. K'Rar."
K'Rar turned and looked at Olox, "This does not concern you, Olox."
"K'Rar, these Cappers are to be considered crewmembers of this ship, by orders of Captain Halrex. If you have a problem with them, then, please, take it up with the Captain."
K'Rar snarled at Olox then turned to the Cappers, pointing his finger at DanZero, "If you do anything that will jeopardize the lives of members of MY squad. You will regret it."
He then stormed off. DanZero slumped down in his chair.
"Why does everyone always pick on me?" he asked, "First, it's Gray, now this guy. Did I piss anyone off in a previous life?"
"You got a face that says, 'Hey, pick on me'" CyberBeast said. MSTieLyn nodded. DanZero just looked at the two. "Dan, I'm just kidding."
"You are?" asked MSTieLyn
Olox sat down with the team, "Please, do not take K'Rar serious. You must understand, everyone on this ship comes from society's and worlds that are more technologically advanced than yours. By their standards, you are, and please don't be offended, primitive."
"Hey," YingYang smiled "I'm not offended."
"You wouldn't be" MSTieLyn said, "I remember something Gray said once. That if it wasn't for the Black Plague, Earth would probably be as advanced as Technica is..or was, I guess."
DanZero looked at Lyn, "Really? He said that?"
"Yea, he said it was on an episode of Stargate SG1"
"Oh...Oh, yea, I remember that episode." Dan then turned to Olox, "So, K'Rar won't kill me."
Olox shook his head, "No, he'll just try to beat you senseless."
DanZero did a faint laugh, then turned to his teammates, "I'm with YingYang, let's go home."
The bridge
Captain Halrex looked at the scanner. Commander Garix walked up beside him. He noticed the look on Halrex's face, indicating that trouble was coming.
"Kortac, sir?" Garix asked
Halrex nodded, "Yes. Several Kortac fighters and their carrier. Heading this way, and they've spotted us. Looks like The Cappers are going to get their first taste of battle. Sound the alarm."
"Yes sir."
The Hanger
The alarm sounded all through the ship, all squadron members ran into the hanger, battlesuits on and headed to their fighters. The Cappers ran into the hanger.
"Looks like you won't be able to go home, Ying Yang." CyberBeast said
"Yea, just my luck." YingYang replied
Halrex walked up beside the Cappers. "Are you ready?" he asked
"Ready as we'll ever be, sir." DanZero replied
Halrex nodded then turned to K'Rar who was running by, "K'Rar, the Illustrious Squadron will be joining your squad."
All Cappers gulped, DanZero started to get a vision of K'Rar ripping Dan's heart out with his bare claws. K'Rar was also not keen on the idea.
"With all due respect, sir." K'Rar protested, "I don't think that you need to send these primitives into the battle, we are able to..."
"K'Rar," Halrex interrupted, this time with more authority in his voice, "I don't recall asking for your opinion."
"Yes sir. Sorry, sir."
"We will discuss you using the term 'primitive' when you return, but for now, they are part of your squadron."
K'Rar glared at DanZero, who gulped again, then turned back to Halrex, "Yes sir. They will be part of my squadron, sir."
DanZero turned to the others, "Ok, let's let this Grizzlybearian eat his words."
The rest of the team smiled and nodded.
Space
The fighters flew in front of the Victory 7, weapons ready to fire.
"The Kortac should be coming into visual range soon." Olox, the squadron supervisor, said "All craft be ready."
K'Rar's voice came over the communicator, "Zero, you will fly up with me. The female of your team and the one who is sexually frustrated will take the left flank, the others of your team will take the right flank."
"Understood, K'Rar." DanZero replied, Well, he thought, at least he didn't say anything insulting.
"Hey, who's the sexually frustrated one?" asked YingYang
"You, Dummy." DanZero snapped, "Now, go with Lyn. And no sexual comments."
The fighters flew to their positions. As they did, the Kortac fighters came into view, and headed straight for the squads.
Ok, Dan, Zero thought, Let's show them what we're made of.
The Kortac fighters fired their weapons.
