Kortac Headquarters, Prison Level
The Gray Zombie sat silently in his cell. Contact with Capper Central was definately out of the question. Hope for a rescue also seemed out of the question. He sat silently in the cell, thinking about the time, when the screengrabber was broken, how, instead of capping, he told a story of how he and his platoon of Cappers were sent on a mission into the enemy territory, known as the Sci Fi, to rescue Private Keogh. The story was called "Saving Private Keogh" and he remembered getting a few LOL's from some of the other Cappers (MedusaD did ask why, in the story, she was playing a harmonica while sitting in the trenches. Gray pointed out that she was unable to bring her bagpipes along). After thinking about the story, and of actual capping in general, Gray finally reached a decision.
If I get out of this...alive, he thought I'm going on vacation.
His thoughts, then turned to Kraztar of the Higher Circle, the Kortac from the year 2045. If he was successful in helping the Kortac conquer the Earth....ah, but the Capper's would stop him. That future will not happen. But then the thought turned to Opus1432, the young Capper from that same future who was sent back in order to warn the Cappers about Kraztar. There was the possibility that she would cease to exist if the Capper's stopped Kraztar. He suddenly realized that he was growing rather fond of her, being a big brother type figure to her, and he also realized that he would miss her terribly if something happened to her.
"Good God," he said out loud "you're getting soft. Next you may start talking to yours..."
He then shook his head, "Ok, fine, I'm nuts." then looking upwards, "Listen, God, sir, if you don't mind, if the Cappers DO happen to stop Kraztar and all, could you possibly see to it that Opus is able to stay with them, without ceasing to exist. Thanks...amen."
The door to the detention room opened, a Kortac guard walked in.
"Are you room service?" asked Gray
"I am here to take you to our chief scientist. He's going to remove your spine." came the reply
"Oh....but I'm sort of using it. Hey, why don't you check with someone else? I think that maybe one of the other Cappers would be willing to help. What do you say?"
Kortac Headquarters, the hallway
Gray Zombie walked down the hallway, not in a very happy mood.
"Why is it that the Korac want to put me through all the torture?" He asked, mostly to himself "I mean, you know, you could go find The Comet, he's been hacking into computers alot....Ooo, no, wait, I know DeadlyRinger, yea, nobody will ever miss him....."
Another Kortac guard came from around the corner. He drew his weapon and headed towards Gray and his guard.
"What do you think you are doing?" he asked "Where are you taking the prisoner?"
Gray's guard responded by shooting at the other Kortac, killing him. Then he grabbed Gray and ran in the opposite direction.
"The hell's going on?" asked Gray "Are you entitled to shoot your own kind?"
"Judd didn't tell you that we could also disguise ourselves as Kortac?" The guard replied
"Well, Shinola. Strike one for the Sunshine Cab Company."
Kortac Headquarters, Martac's quarters
Martac and Kraztar looked over the hologram of Earth. Martac was furious over the failure of the assasination attempt, and he wanted to make sure that the next attack will not fail.
"Kraztar," Martac ordered "show me another important event that we can use to our advantage."
Before Kraztar could answer, Martac's second in command walked in
"Sir, we found one of our guards in the hallway of the prison level. He's been shot."
"Don't tell me" said Martac "The Gray Zombie is missing."
"Yes sir. Fortunately, he is unable to teleport out of our headquarters."
"True, unless he gets outside."
"All doorways to the outside are guarded. And he won't be able to crawl through the ventilation shaft, unless he is able to shrink himself to the size of a fly. I'll send the guards to find him."
"No, Kraztar, would you please find The Gray Zombie."
Kraztar smiled, "With pleasure."
"Oh, and Kraztar, save my scientist some trouble, just rip his spine right out, would you? That's a good soldier, now run along."
After Kraztar walked out, Martac turned to his second in command, "Prepare my original body. I grow tired of this charade."
Kortac Headquarters, A storage room
The alien disguised as a Kortac and The Gray Zombie quickly moved into the storage room. After closing the door, Gray heard a familiar voice behind him.
"Booga booga"
He turned around to find animebabe, along with E_B_A, The Comet, GlitterRock, BrakYeller, Moon Queen and Opus1432.
"Hey are you guys the cavalry, or are we all screwed?" Gray asked
animebabe smiled, "We were the cavalry, but now we're not sure how we're going to get out of here, so I guess we're screwed."
"Hey," Glitter said with a smile, "story of our life, huh?"
Opus ran up to Gray and threw her arms around him, "I'm sorry, this is all my fault."
"Hey, Opie, don't worry about it." Gray replied "We did manage to keep Kraztar away from the President. But, remember one thing, we're a team, and we're going to work together. In other words...."
"'Billy, don't be a hero'." Opus replied
E_B_A explained to Gray that DanZero and Tolstoy went to New York to talk with the alien cab company. Judd finally managed to talk his people into forgetting about the "non-interference" policy just long enough to make a rescue attempt. The alien who saved Gray was called "Mike"
"Ok," Gray said, "Mike, how we gonna get outta heah?"
Mike, still in Kortac guise, smiled, "We're going to jump."
Gray turned to the others, "Why does this bother me?"
Kortac Headquarters, near a mine shaft
The Kortac Headquarters was built near an abandoned mine. There was a deep shaft heading straght down. According to Mike, they jump down into the shaft, they'll wind up out range of the Kortac jamming signal.
"We have a saying in my part of Augusta, Georgia." said Gray after hearing that
"What's that?" Mike asked
"You're off you F*cking Nuts!" He yelled
Moon Queen slapped Gray in the back of the head, "Can you speak up just a little louder? I don't think the entire Kortac homeworld heard you."
BrakYeller handed Gray a rocket pack, "Mike figured it would be easier if we flew down, instead."
"Yea," Comet said, "A whole lot easier."
"Oh," Gray said strapping the rocket pack on, "yea, this makes sense...only I've never used one of these things before."
"Don't worry," animebabe said, "Neither have we."
Shortly, the group was flying straight down, like a squad of Rocketeer's, only without the funny helmets. They were close to the point where they would be safe to teleport, when a green blur flew up, grabbing Opus. Kraztar had his own rocket pack.
"Damn it," yelled Gray Zombie, "NO"
He grabbed anime's laser rifle and flew after Kraztar, "Go on to base," he yelled back, "I'm not leaving without Opus."
Moon Queen and animebabe flew after Gray.
"Go on," anime yelled back.
Mike looked at the others, "I take it we're not teleporting back?"
"Damn straight." replied GlitterRock
Elsewhere in the shaft
Kraztar flew into a cave, throwing Opus against the cave wall. Her rocket pack stopped working, impact damaging it.
"You miserable human," Kraztar yelled "You are the one from my timeline. You are the one responsible for the Kortac's defeat. But you won't live long enough to help your precious Capper's stop us."
Opus tried to bring her foot up in an attempt to kick Kraztar, but Kraztar grabbed her foot, then proceded to swing her around, throwing her against the wall. Opus dropped unconcious.
"Too bad," Kraztar said, "I won't be able to see the fear in your eyes when I kill you."
Then, Kraztar heard a noise from behind him, he turned around to find The Cappers hovering in the shaft. The Gray Zombie had a laser rifle pointed directly at the Kortac of the Third Circle.
"Guess what, Kraztar of the Future." Gray said, "Time's up."
GlitterRock never saw a laser beam slice through the head of anyone up close before, but when he saw the beam go through Kraztar's head, frying his brain, only one thing came to Glitter's mind.
"That was....AWESOME."
Capper Headquarters, the next day
"I would advise against trying to infiltrate the Kortac's headquarters." Hobbes said, "I'm afraid that there will be a lot of alarms and such set."
"I agree, but we must still be ready to stop the Kortac from invading." Tolstoy said
DanZero shook his head, "You realize that doesn't make any sense. They'll get more Kortac for their base, we can't go to their base because we might get killed, but we have to stop them."
"I never said that this would be an easy job, Dan" Tolstoy replied.
"Technican's have a weird sense of humor."
The conversation was interrupted by the arrival of The Gray Zombie and Opus1432 teleporting in.
"Hey, Gray" Dan said, "What's the verdict?"
"Kraztar's death meant the end of the 2045 that he came from. Judd said that we don't have to worry too much about anymore time travelers from that era, but there is still a lot of work to do." Gray replied, "Although, I'm going on vacation. Effective five minutes ago."
Animebabe tapped him on the shoulder, "Hold on, Vacation Boy, what about Opus?"
Tolstoy looked at Opus, "Looks like the change in the time stream hasn't affected her."
Gray nodded, "The Laws of Time keep changing. In this case, it changed in her favor. Bad thing is, she's stuck in our timeline. Her time no longer exists."
Medusa walked over to Opus, "So, Opus1432, do you think you can handle being a team player? Helping us fight the Kortac? Capping along with us, even when the screengrabber is on the crapper?"
Opus smiled, "If you guys would have me."
Tolstoy smiled, "Even if they will not have you, you are welcomed here."
BuckFifty held up his hand, "Excuse me, Tolstoy, but I think that we do have a say in this. Hobbes, activate the PA system."
"Activated"
BuckFifty then cleared his throat, then said, "Attention all Cappers. All those in favor of having Opus1432 becoming a member of our happy little family, let yourself be heard by yelling 'Hell Yeah!"
From all over Capper Central, in unison, every Capper, in every room yelled in agreement. Opus smiled, trying not to show the tears that were forming.
"Thank you." she said
The joyous moment was broken by The Gray Zombie
"Can I start my vacation now?"
"Oh will you just go, already!" yelled animebabe "Sheesh."
