Part Three
In the days that followed The Capper's decision to help Tolstoy fight the Kortac and save their world, The Capper's all learned everything they needed in order to fight the Kortac. Concerning the Kortac, they learned that, like all reptilian races, the race was cold-blooded. Which meant that they had to have special suits made up in order to survive where the temperatures were in the chilly stage. Even if a Kortac brain was in a human body, special suits were needed. Tolstoy also had went into great detail on the Kortac's system of government, their lifestyles, and a few other things, but none of the Capper's were able to stay awake during his lectures.
Capper training was something that they all enjoyed. Special hologram rooms were designed to help the Cappers learn hand to hand combat and to use the special weapons designed for them. BuckFifty and The Gray Zombie both preferred a weapon they dubbed the Laser Bazooka. Basically, as BuckFifty explained, it's a big gun, and with big guns you make big holes.
During the rest and relaxation periods, all the Capper's did what they did best. They capped. And all the while deciding on who should be recruited once their first mission was completed.
"I'd say all of them," said MedusaD "Except maybe for Deadlyringer."
"Heard Sci Fi booted him off the site," Danzero said, then pointing to a screengrab from the gallery "Computer, get that one from MoonQueen, place it on Cap-O-Rama."
"Yes sir," The computer replied.
"What are you doing?" Gray Zombie asked Dan
"Working on my web site." He explained, "Why?"
"You're using the Computer for this. The Computer is a very highly sophisticated piece of equipment. The Computer is not a Cap Gallery Tool," Then very loudly, he added, "THE COMPUTER NEEDS A NAME."
"Really, sir?" asked The Computer "I never thought that I needed a name."
Animebabe shrugged, "Everyone has a name, even computers. Except for the computers on the Star Trek series."
"And this ain't Star Trek." added The Gray Zombie
"Well," the Computer continued, "If you want to, you could think of a name for me."
"Hey, that's cool." agreed Rizzz. "Who's good at names."
BuckFifty looked up, "We'll think of one later, however, there is something very important we should contend with."
"What's that?" asked Medusa
"Gray Zombie's underwear has just been spotted in an episode of Tales From The Crypt."
And with that the Capper's jumped to their monitors to continue with the thread, waiting for a chance for either Phil and Bob, or Suicide Squirrel to make an appearance as well.
As the week progressed, and as the Capper's fighting skills improved, the search continued for The Kortac's base of operations on Earth. Tolstoy, Gray Zombie, and the Computer tried to trace the dimensional signatures but to no avail.
"What exactly are we looking for?" Gray Zombie asked
"When you travel from one dimension to another," Tolstoy explained, "the dimensional vortex leaves a trace that we can find to determine where the Kortac have landed. Only The Computer is able to detect it."
"And unfortunately, they have a device where ever they are that is making it hard for me to pinpoint." The Computer added, "I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news on this, but I'll try to pinpoint the exact location."
"Keep trying," Tolstoy said as he walked out of the control room, "are you staying Zombie?"
"Yea, I'm gonna help the Computer, if I can."
After a few minutes, The Gray Zombie stared at the map on Computer's screen.
"They're in New York City? It's gonna get cold soon. Hope they packed their special suits."
"I'm sure they have, sir."
"Just call me Gray or Zombie."
"Very well.....Zombie. This is a very large city. I'm not sure where they are hiding out."
Gray Zombie tapped his fingers on the console. "I wonder," he thought "Might be a little too far fetched, but then again, dimensional beings invading our world is also a little too far fetched."
"Pardon me, Gray, but do you know where they might be hiding."
Gray Zombie started typing on the keyboard, "I'm not really sure, I wouldn't bet anime's sister on it..."
"Does she have a sister?"
"Figure of speech." Gray Zombie stopped typing, "Find this address."
A blip, much like all blips that pop up on computer screens, popped up on a location of the map.
"Okely Dokely," The Gray Zombie continued, "give me all info you have on this building, including how many floors, and that also means sub basements."
"This will take a moment, the satellite we need has to be moved over to that location."
"Can you do that?"
"Of course, it's a piece of cake."
Later
The Capper's were in the control room. They all looked at the screen, the blip on the map blinked on and off, highlighting the location that was their objective.
"Sumbitch." BuckFifty said
"I agree with Buck," said DanZero, "Sumbitch."
"All those in favor say aye." animebabe said sarcastically
"So," The Gray Zombie said, "in order to stop the Kortac, we gotta go to the root of all our problems, the offices of Sci Fi. Actually, we have to go to the sub basement...well, one of them."
Tolstoy shook his head, "It's too dangerous. I don't want to send you into the middle of a Kortac army."
"In that case," suggested Rizzz "Maybe we should go to the Sci Fi offices and have a look around."
"Go incognito." agreed Medusa
Tolstoy nodded, "I'll go along with that. Gray, you stay here though."
"Oh, man, I wanna go into the heart of danger."
"Later, I need you to work with the Computer. We don't know how many Kortac are here, thanks to their scrambler device."
"Gotcha, so you want me and the Computer to Scramble the Scrambler."
"The rest of you," Tolstoy handed each of them what looked to them like a wristwatch. "This is you communicator and teleporter. This button activates the communicator, this button activates the teleporter. You either teleport here, unless the computer has another destination set for you."
Medusa held the communicator up to her mouth, "Calling Dick Tracy, calling Dick Tracy"
All the Capper's laughed. Then they prepared to be teleported to their destination.
Gray Zombie looked at his friends, "Good luck."
The rest waved, then they pushed the teleporter button on their wristbands. In an instant they were gone.
The silence was broken by the Computer, "Oh dear."
Tolstoy and The Gray Zombie turned to the Computer.
"What do you mean, 'Oh, dear'?" asked Gray Zombie, "Usually, that means something bad has happened."
Sci Fi Lobby
"Excuse me, sir." the security guard asked
DanZero turned to face the guard. "Who me?"
"Yes, where did you come from, you weren't here a second ago."
DanZero shrugged, then nervously said, "I am Sci fi?"
The guard chuckled, "Funny. You have an appointment here?"
"Actually, I'm waiting on some friends."
The guard nodded then went about his business. DanZero walked away then slipped behind a rubber plant standing next to the ashtray beneath the "No Smoking" sign. He then clicked on the communicator.
"Hello, anyone there?" he asked
The voice that answered was The Gray Zombie's, "Ummmm, hi. If you're a Capper, state your name. If you're a Kortac, 'Long Live The Empire'"
"Very funny, Where's Medusa and the others."
"Where are you?"
"In the lobby of Sci Fi. But the others aren't here."
"Actually, they are, just not in the safe confines of the lobby. Oh, and I checked, the Kortac won't be able to listen in on our conversation."
"Well, that's sort of like closing the barn door after the cows have gone out. Where's Medusa?"
"Ok, see, this is what the dealio is, and Tolstoy's and the computer's faces are both red for not realizing this. You know that scrambler that wouldn't let us pinpoint where the dimensional vortex was opening on Earth? Well, it also affected the teleporter."
"So, it screwed with where we were all supposed to be?"
"Ummmm, yea, that's about the size of it."
"So, where are they?"
"We're checking. Going floor by floor. Starting from the top, and working our way down."
"How far down have you gotten?"
Silence
"Oh, Gray, if you don't mind my asking. And since we are on a team, how far down have you checked."
More silence
"Gray, I don't like this."
"Me neither, seeing as how we have found them. SubBasement 4."
"You mean, that they are close to the Kortac? That's bad."
"Actually, it's worse."
SubBasement 4
The Kortac guards, seven of them, surrounded the others. Their weapons were raised. The Capper's knew that if they moved they were toast. But even with danger and death lingering in the air, BuckFifty knew exactly what to say.
"God Damn, Sum Bitch."
